  2. Today’s workout: Alligators.

So I was out kayaking, about 15 minutes into the planned two hours, when there was a massive splash right next to my kayak, by what can only be described as a bigass alligator.
    Not even kidding.
So, I got the hell out of there, and did the kayak equivalent of a sprint for about ten minutes until I got back to the dock.
I tried calming down and going back out, but every splash unnerved me and finally when I spotted the ripples of one underwater, I had it. Headed back, packed up the kayak and left.
Apparently there’ve been a lot of them lately.
Then went to gym, did an hour of crossfit and about 20 mins of muay thai before my knee gave out and I was sick to my stomach from being in the heat all afternoon (around 100 degrees).
    Not a fun day.

  3. 8/7 workout

    Hour crossfit
    Hour muay thai
Yeah I’m tired. Got a mad knot in shoulder/neck that was super tight through the whole workout, along with another one along my spine.
Anyways, kicks are looking better and so is my ab strength! I’m still surprised by how easy it was for me to do the fireman’s and koala carries.
    Night y’all.

  5. 7/26 workout

    2 hours canoeing
    1 hour crossfit
    1 hour traditional muay thai

Ok first it’s actually more like canoe wars. I’ll spare y’all the whole story but I was knocked out of a canoe by a flying tackle, almost drowned, got flipped in the middle of a lake and had to swim/drag the canoe to the edge to flip, and wore out my arm lobbing water bombs at the other team. Also paddling like crazy in every direction.
Took a short nap on the mats in the cage at the fighter gym, then did the classes for the day.
    I’m exhausted.
Also sortof sad because the female fighter at my gym is moving to Illinois.
Now it’s all guys all the time.
    Anyways, night y’all.

  6. I hit a wall today during my workout.

I was so ready for my workout.

I was psyched, I wanted to do it, I was ready to work hard.

I warmed up by running a few laps around the area, started the rounds of boxing, and then it hit me.

    I was exhausted.

My body just ached. Every kick was a shock to my body, reminding me how badly bruised my shins are, the knots that have occurred over the week of focusing so much on muay thai.

My form went to crap. Suddenly the switch kicks and straight kicks that were so easy yesterday, were incredibly difficult to do right today.

My boxing gloves were suddenly too heavy. Every jab felt wrong. Every punch was off. And distance became a major problem.

And the heat. Unless you live in Texas, you have no idea how bad it is. The gym has no AC, besides opening the warehouse doors and turning on an industrial size fan. But, it’s killer.

I just couldn’t do it. My body shut down.

I stopped in the middle of a round, and just walked out of the ring. Sat watching for the rest of class, completely dead.

And I’m not weak. And I’m not a loser for stopping or quitting.

My body needed it. It was worn out, and if I continued, I would probably have gotten injured further.

There’s just some situations where you need to listen to your body.

I put in more hours than usual this week. I worked hard. My feet and lower legs are beat to crap from hours of kicks on the bags. My body is just tired.

As some of y’all know, I have sleep apnea, and this results in bad sleep quality and my body doesn’t get much of a chance to recover overnight. I had been sleeping really badly the last few days, and that was probably a major factor to this as well.

I’m going to go get as much sleep as I can, before waking up early and doing a two hour practice. Then I’m not lifting a finger until monday’s practice.

And I don’t feel guilty at all about quitting. I’m just going to press reset for next week, and not look back.

  7. Muay thai.

I have to say, I’m liking muay thai more and more. It helps that my gym has several muay thai/ thai boxing classes a week, but it’s just that I’m getting it now.
My kicks are my most powerful tool in sparring, and that’s improved my game greatly, plus my legs are getting a lot stronger.
I’ve spent several hours this week doing bag work, focusing on the form of my kicks, getting the most power, etc. My legs and feet are bruised and sore from it, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
I’m proud to do this sport.

  8. 7/19 Workout

2 Hours boxing and jiu jitsu

    Mainly boxing.

Did 10 rounds of boxing, focusing on different combinations. My jabs are getting stronger Then did some rounds working on my switch kicks and normal muay thai kicks, which have also gotten a lot stronger.

Then learned some sweeps from half guard.

Pretty good short workout, considering it was just me and my training partner, I couldn’t make it to normal practice today.

Oh, and side note, there was a skunk outside the gym today and it made things hellish. We don’t have AC so we had the warehouse doors open and the smell would waft in. I was so nauseous.

Night yall, muay thai technical class tomorrow, plus extra rounds of boxing and grappling with Chris.

  9. 7/18 workout

    2 hours muay thai
    1 hour sparring and grappling

It’s getting to where I actually prefer switch kicks. Weird. Also, muay thai coach was getting on me about opening up my hips more to get more power, so hopefully will drill that tomorrow on the bags.
Sparring wise, did well. Working on not throwing single kicks or punches, but getting in more combinations. Plus the continuing problem of not keeping my hands high enough. My sparring partner has started hitting me (he usually just practices defense while I work on offense) in the head every time my hands drop as a reminder to keep them up.
    I think it’s working.
Anyways, goodnight y’all. So much bag work and sparring has killed my hands and it’s not too fun typing.

  10. 7/17 WOD

    Several rounds sparring
    1 hour crossfit
    1 hour muay thai
I’m so tired. My sparring is improving. My kicks are getting stronger. I’m hanging in longer with the crossfit.
Oh, and my training partner has a fight coming up in September, so I’m doing a lot of additional workouts with him until I leave for college in late August. Looking at 15 hours a week or so.
Anyways, I’m gonna go pass out once I finish my protein shake.
    Night y’all.

  11. 7/11 WOD

3 Hours MMA- muay thai, grappling, and free-roll.

My muay thai teacher kept randomly coming up and kicking me, because he thinks I’m a “wuss”.

    Bitch, please.

So, as a result of it, and my efforts to prove him wrong, I am now rather bruised. Especially on the back of my knee where he caught me in a pretty vicious sweep.

200 Tyson Squats have obliterated my thighs.

And I rebruised my still swollen elbow, for the third time in a row. This thing will never heal.

Anyways, back to the beachhouse tomorrow, I was just in town for tonight and tomorrow for work.

There’s a super strong current, so fighting that has been a workout, plus I’m taking my kayak to the house tomorrow, and will hopefully get that in.

    Night, guys!

    How embarrassing.
He’s also ordering me some youth size muay thai shin pads.
    Blah.

  13. Day something, WOD

    One hour muay thai.
Super shaky, mostly in my hands, so I’m just going to go drink a bunch of water and go pass out.
    I’m exhausted.

  14. Day 16 W.O.D

One hour circuit training CrossFit Style.

    One hour Muay Thai.

    Omg.

Someone type this for me. I’m so sore that it actually hurts to type.

I’ll keep this short. Basically did an hour of circuit training, did pretty well but I definitely need to drink more during the day because starting out dehydrated did my body no favors. All the usual stuff like rounds of boxing on the bags, 4 point pushups, sprinting, throwing weight ball from squat position, and I’m too tired to remember what else.

Then hour Muay Thai. Rounds of push kicks, combos, etc, with 20/20 pushups and situps in between.

Both of these with the slightly crazed Muay thai coach yelling in Spanish at us.

Also, I sure did have to rest during my shower, my arms are just too tired.

    Goodnight Y’all.
